Network Configuration For VoIP Traffic
Although most default firewalls are configured to allow VoIP Traffic without issue. Here are a few universal steps that you can make to ensure high quality VoIP calling within your network.
Common VoIP symptoms resulting from firewall restrictions
1. Poor quality audio or no audio during phone calls
2. Static during phone calls or intermittent audio drops
3. Unable to retrieve or place calls into park or transfer to other phones
4. Limited number of phones working, some just won't connect for some reason
5. No network connection or IP address
6. BLF Keys not working as expected (The line key for colleagues should change to red during an active phone call)
7. Inbound calls are not arriving to several phones.
If you are experiencing a one-off issue with your VoIP telephones. We recommend rebooting your network firewall, modem, and phones. Even if your computers are working, firewalls treat voice traffic differently. This often resolves issues and will be the first thing our team will request during a troubleshooting phone call.
